Nin and Cliffordians 73/78
Songs played a very important part in our growing-up years. In agony or thrill, the melody inspired us to be more alert in our next step. I remembered with especially Meor Helmi and Zamzuri, we ransacked the rack of cassettes in search for our favourite songs, suited the moment. This event took placed in Larut Matang Supermarket in the early 80's.
Singers like Leo sayer, Santa Esmeralda, Abba, Rod Stewart ect always brought joys to us heading back to Kuala in Red & Yellow Bus. In Kuala, there was one music store opposite "Kedai Tinggi" was the place for us, boys and girls looking for cassettes or records. At times, heading to Bazaar Kuale, the malay shop selling cassette, mostly malay songs but flooded with the made-in-Indonesia, The mercy, The Favourite Group, D'lloyd and singers of heydays like Emilia Contessa, Bob Tuttipoly, Harvey Marlaiholo. Remember the shop? At the back of Bazaar facing Sungai Perak, then either to Kassim  Restaurant or Ghee Kheng to strut our ego listening to juke box.
I never forget Roslal (Ongkie) who used to frequent this music store looking for Alleycats or The Heavy Machine. Everything was cheap though, RM 3.00 for cassette written dolby system or better still that could last for a week maybe RM2.50. Remember the record, only RM9.90 and imitation was RM5.90. We also had this known as cartridge, but not so popular.
Those beautiful days only could be shared among us. I really want to relate these to my girls, but will it make sense?!!

The Memories and all of You will always in a special place in my heart Eternity

Salam Hormat
