Petroleum, or 'black oil' means 'oil from stone' - from the latin petra (stone). No wonder one of the prominent figure in Malaysia is 'as hard as stone' and oleum (oil). Pertol was once a discarded waste product from the distillation of lamp-oil. Angry with the "Nyonya-faced chimney oil lamp" petrol now is taking revenge, and as we could feel the burning-fury, the price keeps going up. The advent of motor car made it the main product of refineries. no thanks to Mr Ford stupidity not using water as the way to keep the motor car moving.
Certain micro-organisms, like yeast, feed on petroleum product. So before long we will be eating protein foods from oil! , but who wants to convert precious into food - especially after all the effort of oil-hungry men to squeeze the oil from stone,....so don't be surprise when one day Batu (stone) Gajah produces oil...hua...hua...hua...hik(sapu minyak gamat kat perut)
